Ten!

The Santa Barbara Museum of Art celebrates the gifts made possible by PhotoFutures, now in their tenth year.  Founded in 1998 by Mrs. Kingman Douglass and the late WM. Brian Little, these avid collectors have helped to build the permanent photography collection as well as support other photographic exhibitions at the museum.

Showcased in this exhibition are important areas of focus within the photography collection – the intersection of art and science, California masters, Western Pacific Rim artists, and a few master pieces from the 19th century.  Also featured in Ten! are contemporary acquisitions, such as works by Mike and Doug Starn and Joan Fontcuberta.

The generosity of the PhotoFutures collectors has made many of these acquisitions possible.  With the altruistic, informed, and enthusiastic support of our committed members, the permanent photography collection is now richer by 100+ photographs…and the legacy continues.
